Future Projects

Once I complete the USS Buchanan and create the diorama I plan to begin work on the P-38 Lightning. I'm considering using a custom paint job instead of using the provided detailing plan so that it'll be a bit more unique.

A possible idea for paint scheme.

I want to use a paint scheme that was used in the Pacific theater, because of my interest in that particular region during World War II. After I finish the P-38 I will either at long last finish building the USS Oliver Hazard Perry or order the USS Hornet.

I do plan on eventually converting the USS Hornet into the USS Yorktown as she was during the Battle of Midway and possibly create a diorama with both the Yorktown and Buchanan.

Current Project

Currently I am building the USS Buchanan as she appeared in 1942 that was present at a number of significant naval engagements in the Pacific and carried Admirals Nimitz and Halsey near the end of the World War II and carried General MacAuthur to the USS Missouri for the unconditional surrender of Japan.

At present I am about 2/3 of the way completed. All that is left is to finish the main mast, life rafts, a 1.1" quad anti aircraft gun, safety railing, and finish decals and weathering. Once I finish I plan on setting the half hull ship on a clay textured board to simulate the ship being underway as well as fabricate a way to show the smoke from the smoke stacks.

Hello all!

My name is Lucas and I decided that the focus of this blog will be my interest in model building. Why model building? Well, I've been building models since I was about 4 years old putting snap models together and quickly moved into using glue, but I never placed priority in following the instructions and painting until I was about 10. I used to build models on a regular basis although quickly ran out of room, but have now resumed my hobby after a hiatus of about 4 years and clearing space. I build cars, tanks, ships, planes, and helicopters, but only military vehicles. The models I stopped on 4 years ago included an A-10 Warthog, F-15 Strike Eagle, F/A- 18 Super Hornet, HH-60 Pave Hawk, and an incomplete Oliver Hazard Perry frigate. I have decided that if I am to continue to pursue this hobby I must strive to do everything right, learn new skills, purchase all the proper tools, and use quality products.
